About NSAidr
NSAidr is an independent, statute-pinned decoder for the federal No Surprises Act. We route confused patients through an 8-axis decision tree to the correct dispute path: Federal IDR, PPDR self-pay, state DOI, DOL/EBSA, or the free CMS NSA complaint pathway.
What we are
- An interactive decoder for the federal No Surprises Act (45 CFR Part 149).
- A primary-source citation manifest with statute pins on every load-bearing claim.
- A 50-state ground-ambulance balance-billing matrix with per-state DOI entry points.
- A client-side tool — your bill amounts, dates, and payer names never leave your browser.
What we are NOT
- We are NOT a CMS-certified IDR entity. We do not arbitrate disputes.
- We are NOT a law firm. We do not provide legal advice.
- We are NOT affiliated with HHS, CMS, the Department of Labor, or any federal or state agency.
- We are NOT a bill-negotiation service. The free CMS NSA complaint pathway is at 1-800-985-3059 — use it first.
The CMS-administered consumer complaint pathway. Free, federal, and the recommended first action for any balance-billed insured patient. You have 90 calendar days from when you knew or should have known of the NSA violation to file.
Our editorial discipline
Every load-bearing claim cites a primary source: congress.gov, uscode.house.gov, law.cornell.edu, ecfr.gov, cms.gov, nsa-idr.cms.gov, or aspe.hhs.gov. Secondary sources (KFF, Peterson-KFF, Patient Advocate Foundation, Triage Cancer, law-firm explainers) are listed as supplementary on the /sources page but are never the citation we hang an answer on.
